Lets face it, food available at most conventions leaves a lot to be desired for and more often than not leave you broke. Here are my top 5 places to eat while attending Fanime!
Peggy Sues – Yelp
This is the go to place for breakfast burritos! There are only a handful of places open early in the morning in downtown San Jose. If you’re looking for something delicious to eat in the morning this is the place. I recommend getting the breakfast burrito for only $5.49. It’s a quick delicious way to start your con morning. Are you in need of some hair of the dog? This place also serves beer early in the morning 😉
Henry’s Hi-Life – Yelp
If you’re looking for something more hearty during your visit give Henry’s a shot. This place serves delicious BBQ. It’s a bit of a walk from the convention center but totally worth it after a long day at the convention. This place is really popular so be prepared for a bit of a wait. I recommend you find a place at the bar have a seat grab a drink and listen to some live entertainment while you wait. This place is a bit pricier but its totally worth it. You’ll walk away full and ready to relax for the rest of the evening.
Pho 69 – Yelp
In the mood for some soup? Give this place a try. There’s nothing more revitalizing and satisfying than having some pho to fill a hungry stomach. This is a good place to take a break from the con, sit down and have some good food. Just remember that this place is closed on Sundays. Bonus, this place is right around the corner from the convention.
Fantazia Thai Cuisine – Yelp
One of my favorite things in the world is some Thai yellow curry. This place is far from the convention center but only a few stops on the metro. As with most asian restaurants you get a good amount of food for your money, and probably enough left over for another meal. Be sure to order some Thai iced tea with your order for only $2.
If you don’t mind throwing some caution into the wind, a bacon wrapped hot dog is always a good choice. They’re cheap, convenient, and so damn tasty! You can pick one up from one of the many vendors on the sidewalk of the convention center. Just hold up your hand and signal with your fingers how many you want. Everything in life should be this easy!
Bonus: Harris Ranch Inn & Restaurant – Yelp
Are you driving up from Los Angeles like we are? A good place to stop and stretch your legs is Harris Ranch along the 5 freeway. This place puts a new meaning to a steak & eggs breakfast.
